Brief description:

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme was established by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development to enable French higher education establishments to attract top foreign students to enrol in their master’s and PhD courses.

The scholarship programme funds master’s courses lasting between 12 and 36 months and offers funding for PhD students to spend ten months in France through joint supervision or dual enrolment.

For Master’s level studies, the Eiffel scholarship includes a monthly allowance of €1,181 (a maintenance allowance of €1,031 and a monthly stipend of €150).  For PhD level studies, the Eiffel scholarship includes a monthly allowance of €1,400.

In addition, the programme meets various expenses including international return trip, social security cover, and cultural activities. Scholarship holders may also receive an additional housing allowance, under certain conditions.

Tuition fees are not covered by the Eiffel Programme.

Eligibility:

Nationality: This programme is reserved for candidates of non-French nationality. Candidates with two nationalities, one of which is French, are not eligible.

Age: For master’s courses, candidates must be no older than 30 on the date of the selection committee meeting, i.e. born after 07/03/1985; at PhD level, candidates must be no older than 35 on the date of the selection committee meeting, i.e. born after 07/03/1980.

Origin of applications: Only applications submitted by French educational establishments are accepted. These establishments undertake to enrol scholarship holders on the course for which they have been selected. Applications submitted by any other means shall not be considered. Furthermore, any candidate nominated by more than one establishment shall be disqualified.

Courses of study: Scholarships are for students wishing to enrol on a master’s course, including at an engineering school, and for PhD students. The Eiffel Programme does not apply to French-run master’s courses abroad, as non-PhD scholarship holders must complete at least 75% of their course in France. It does not apply to training under an apprenticeship contract or a professional training contract either.

Combination with other scholarships: Foreign students who, at the time of application, have already been awarded a French government scholarship under another programme are not eligible, even if the scholarship in question does not include social security cover.

For Eiffel PhD Scholarship: Establishments may nominate a candidate who was previously awarded an Eiffel scholarship at master’s level for a scholarship at PhD level. Candidates who have already been awarded an Eiffel scholarship once during their PhD cannot be awarded it for a second time. No application will be accepted for any student who applied previously but was rejected, even if the application is submitted by a different establishment or in another field of study.

For Eiffel Master Scholarship:  No application will be accepted for any student who applied previously but was rejected, even if the application is submitted by a different establishment or in another field of study. Students who have already been awarded an Eiffel scholarship at master’s level are not eligible to re-apply at master’s level.

Language level: When pre-selecting non-French-speaking candidates, establishments must make sure that their language skills meet the requirements of the relevant course of study.

Application instructions:

Applications are not accepted from students directly. Applications for EIFFEL scholarships are submitted by French Higher Education Institutions. You must apply and meet the requirements of the French Higher Education Institution in order to be considered for the scholarship.  The deadline for applications to Campus France is 8 January 2016. Application deadline to participating French Institutions is earlier and falls around November-December 2015.

Commonwealth Scholarships for Master’s study in the UK are offered for citizens of developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK .

These scholarships do not cover undergraduate courses, PhD study, or any pre-sessional English language teaching.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

Shared Scholarships are jointly funded by the CSC and participating UK universities. Each Scholarship provides approved tuition and examination fees, approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award, stipend, thesis grant, warm clothing allowance, study travel grant, and excess baggage allowance.

Eligibility:

To apply for a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship, candidates must:

•  Be Commonwealth citizens, refugees, or British protected persons
•  Be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country
• Be available to commence their academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2016
• By August 2016, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard
• Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a developed country
• Be unable, either yourself or through your family, to pay to study in the UK

Application instructions:

You should apply to study an eligible Master’s course at a UK university that is participating in the Shared Scholarship scheme. You must check with your UK university for their specific advice and rules for applying, and for their own closing date for applications.

You must make your application using the CSC’s Electronic Application System (EAS). All applications must be submitted by 1 April 2016 at the latest. Each university has its own closing date for applications, and most fall before 1 April 2016.

Swedish Institute Study Scholarships

The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses (SEK 9,000 per month), and insurance. The scholarship also covers travel grants for scholarship holders from countries on the DAC list of ODA recipients.

Applicants must be from an eligible country and have at least two years’ work experience. Applicants must display outstanding academic qualifications and leadership experience. In addition, applicants should show an ambition to make a difference by working with issues which contribute to a just and sustainable development in their country.

Kindly note that to be considered for a scholarship, you must first both complete your separate application to the master’s programme(s) before the university deadline 15 January 2016, and pay your university admissions application fee before 1 February 2016.

The application process consists of two steps. The first step will be an online application form from 1 December 2015 – 22 January 2016. Successful candidates will be notified in the beginning of February, and required to submit a detailed application for the second step, 8 – 13 February 2016.

ADMISSION IN CANADA

In Canada, admission process and requirements vary from institution to institution. Some of the information that you may be required to produce may center on academic, character, and financial evidences that show you are the deserving candidate for admission in the respective university. Test scores such as SAT, TOEFL are not required for admissions into undergraduate program once applicant has school in an English speaking country like Ghana.

The major languages used in Canada are English and French. But most of the universities offer courses in English language. So you need to show your efficiency by means of English Language tests. IELTS is most widely recognized and accepted English language test in Canada, however, some universities even accepts TOEFL. The score that you must obtain in these language tests vary from institution to institution and course of study students choose. 

For admission in undergraduate level, student must have completed twelve years of academic education, but for postgraduate level applicant must have completed sixteen years of academic education. If you've done three years of bachelor's course then you'll have to do diploma for one year in Canada to be eligible to study in Canada as postgraduate student.

For management students, students may be asked for two years of work experience before being admitted to the university. In most of the cases GMAT is compulsory for MBA students.

Though education isn't free in Canada, tuition fees are cheaper in comparison to other similar nations like UK, USA, and Australia.

STUDENT VISA PROCESS

The student visa in Canada is most commonly known as Study permit. Either a student need to obtain or don't need to obtain Canadian study permit depends upon the country of residence of the student. Students from most of the countries need to obtain Canadian student visa to study in Canada, but students from some countries don't have to obtain any Student visa to study in Canada. Students from Ghana need to obtain Canadian student visa to study in Canada.

Documents Required for Study Permits in Canada
There are several documents that students will have to present to obtain Student visa for Canada. Those documents are listed below:

• Completed Application for Study permits
• A valid passport
• Two recent passport photos of the student. Back of the photo, the name and date of birth of the person appearing in the photo should be written.
• Proof that shows the educational institution has accepted the student for admission in their institution
• Evidence of sufficient funds to overcome all the living expenses and study costs in Canada
• Bank transaction statement of last four months
• Proof of payment of fee in acceptable format. This format varies according to country and region. However, the most general method is presenting it through Bank Draft
• Evidence that show students have no criminal records
• Students from some nations may even need to present medical reports
• Any other documents that may help for obtaining a Student visa for Canada

FINANCIAL AIDS

Some financial aid is available to international students. Merit based assistance is awarded in many forms, from tuition waivers, various types of assistantships, to fellowships. Students will have a greater chance of getting financial aid if they:

• Show evidence of a high level of academic achievement
• Achieve high Standardized Examination scores (GMAT, TOEFL etc.)
• Specialize in a field or have a research interest which parallels that of the department and faculty or private funding source (which increases opportunities for research assistantships and grants)
• Have outstanding letter of recommendation and an impressive statement of purpose.

Very few international students get any kind of assistantships and most people get it after reaching there. So you have to arrange for funds for the first few semesters, at least till the time you can arrange something there

Truman International President's Honorary Scholarships

PROGRAM INFORMATION
Program Description: Truman is ranked as the #1 Public University in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report (2015) and the #1 Public University in the United States by Consumers Digest (2015). The Business Insider named Truman as "One of the Top 20 Public Schools with the Smartest Students" (2014). Truman assists international students with multiple scholarship opportunities. More than 90% of new degree-seeking international undergraduate students are awarded a significant Truman scholarship. The International President’s Honorary Scholarship is renewable for up to four years based on maintaining a 3.25/4.0 grade point average. Award amounts vary.
